John Gilpin, Winemaker for Vitus and Quercus Wines, has a strong passion for winemaking and boy did it show in this year's San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition!
His passion and love for winemaking was clearly displayed based off of the results from the 2013 SFCWC. The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest competition of American wines. The SFCWC aims to award wines that are truly exceptional.
The 2013 judging panel consisted of 60 renowned judges from across the country, all bringing to the table their different palates, preferences, and experiences. Vitus and Quercus Wines competed amongst hundreds of wines entered into each category all varying in varietal, appellation, and price.
We are pleased to announce that each winery took home medals for both the Cabernet and Merlot! Vitus received Gold on the 2009 Reserve Merlot and Silver on the 2009 Cabernet. Quercus received a Double Gold on the 2009 Cabernet and Gold on the 2009 Merlot.
John Gilpin is truly an exceptional winemaker who puts his heart and soul into his passion for wine making. Vitus & Quercus Wines both look forward to the next competition!
